Automatic Sprinkler System – Corrosion Control Hangar, Al Jaber Air Base, Kuwait

As part of the U.S. Department of Defense’s infrastructure expansion under the Foreign Military Sales (FMS) program, a Corrosion Control Hangar was constructed at Ahmad Al Jaber Air Base to support F/A‑18 Super Hornet operations.

I was responsible for the complete fire protection system design for this specialized aircraft maintenance facility, in accordance with UFC 3-600-01 and relevant NFPA codes.

Scope of Work:

  • Design of a wet-pipe automatic sprinkler system tailored for Group II aircraft hangar occupancy

  • Hydraulic calculations and sizing of sprinkler piping network using NFPA 13 and UFC standards

  • Zoning and sprinkler head layout to ensure unobstructed coverage across maintenance bays and support areas

  • Coordination with structural and mechanical disciplines to integrate sprinkler mains and branch lines within the building envelope

The design ensured fire safety coverage for both the hangar area and ancillary spaces, supporting mission-critical corrosion treatment activities with full regulatory compliance.
